Jane Bonehill is a Technician Safety Practitioner (TechSP) with the Institution of Occupational Health and Safety Europe’s leading body for health and safety professionals, she has been a member of the dental team for almost thirty years.

She is an active member of the British Association of Dental Nurses and holds office on the Health and Safety Advisory Committee. Jane is a Licentiate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, she recognises that behaviours affects health and safety and training is one approach to changing behaviours.

Jane works with dental companies around the UK, giving presentations, delivering certificated training courses and providing consultancy to assist dental teams in managing health and safety.

Course overview:

This two-day course is designed to provide participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills necessary to carry out risk assessments in the dental environment in line with current C.I.E.H legislation.

Successful completion of this course (Including a further 30 hours external study around your place of work) leads to the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Level 2 Certificate in Risk Assessment Principle and Practices.

Aims & Objectives for the day:

  • State the purposes for and benefits of utilising a risk assessment approach to management of health and safety.
  • State the basic principles of risk assessment and stages involved in carrying out risk assessment in practice.
  • State the key legislative requirements on risk assessment.
  • Carry out, record, monitor and review risk assessment within your working environment (subject to possession of the necessary technical knowledge and skills).
  • Additionally, you will be able to realise the limitations of your knowledge and experience and be aware of where to seek further information, guidance and assistance.
  • Identify how risk assessments link health and safety with quality assurance, training, personal and organisational development issues.
