Essential Quality Requirements
Practices should provide clear evidence of attainment to the following essential quality requirements:
- All instrument reprocessing must be to a dedicated written process and protocol, which should be documented and stored.
- All reprocessed instruments must be sterilised prior to storage and further use.
- Instrument that have been reprocessed must be stored to limit any further contamination prior to their next use and following the new HTM 01-05 sterile storage guides.
- Active use and monitoring of the new audit tool from the Infection Prevention Society (www.ips.uk.net).
- Have clear written guide to prove how & when your practice will meet "Best practice".
- It has been noted within the HTM 01-05 that a period of 12 months should be suitable for a practice to meet the essential quality requirements.
