Course description: Originally launched in 2004 to develop a new computer aided learning programme from the Department of Health and COPDEND, to deliver what is now the definitive Cross Infection Control training programme for modern dental practices in accordance with the British Dental associations infection control guide – A12.

This has now been upgraded in 2009 to meet the new decontamination guidelines from the Department of Health (DoH) under the Health Technical memorandum "HTM 01-05", launched by the DoH in March 2009 (as online version initially).

Our full on-line training and education presentation will enable participants to obtain a thorough appreciation and understanding of safe and effective Infection Control procedures.

You will be able to examine the reasons why procedures need to be performed and explore the risks inherent in dentistry.

  • To provide knowledge of the microorganisms, which may be transferred through dental procedures.
  • To introduce the legislative aspects, which relate to Cross Infection Control in the dental environment.
  • To provide a detailed explanation of the practices and procedures for implementing effective Cross Infection Control as recommended in the Department of Health; Health Technical Memorandum decontamination in dental care - HTM 01-05

Thorough understanding of the reasons why effective Cross Infection Control is fundamental to the provision of quality dental treatment.

A good working knowledge of all recommended procedures necessary for the implementation of effective Infection Control in a dental context.

This computer aided learning programme was originally developed in 2004 around the BDA's infection control guide book - A12 and more recently the DoH HTM0105, has been developed and produced in consultation with:
